PAIN - CHAPTER 04: IRON MAN

The Jumpy Billionaire

Tony Stark darted at full speed aboard his super sports car. He was proceeding in a zigzag way, overtaking every car that came before him. He did so every time he was angry. The appetizer with one of his brokers a few minutes earlier had been bringer of bad news. And now he was heading to the Stark Industries headquarters, where he expected to receive explanations. Stark Industries was a family business that thanks to Tony had become a gigantic company, whose core business was the production of weapons, but had interests in the most diverse sectors. Among other things, it was a leader in the production of nutcrackers.

Tony parked his Lamborghini in his private parking lot. Getting out of the car he rearranged his Yves Saint Laurent's shirt and fastened the Stark Boutique belt, the super luxury brand he created.

As soon as he arrived in the offices he began to shout "Pepper! Pepper!". Shortly thereafter a beautiful woman in her thirties revealed herself. Green eyes, long red hair gathered in a tail, her collaborator was visibly nervous.

"Good morning Tony," she said politely. He did not return the greeting. "Trust me, it's a good deal, you told me," he began to scream again. "Would you call a light bulb company with a billion and a half debt a good deal?" Even if for him a billion and a half dollars were crumbs, if there was one thing that Tony hated it was to throw money. Unless it was money spent on his passions of course: he once spent $ 150,000 on a golf club, for example. He had used it twice.

Pepe tried to justify herself but her arguments were struggling to stand up. Until she let slip that it was a favor for a friend, whose father's company was on the verge of bankruptcy in fact. Tony's face turned purple. The woman thought he was on the verge of an explosion of anger. But it wasn't like that. Suddenly Tony felt strange and was short of breath.

A few seconds later he was wearing his Iron Man armor and getting a punch in the face by a hardly reassuring robot. The same threw him against the facade of a building sending it into rubble. It was strange, despite wearing armor, actually he was absolutely helpless and totally at the mercy of events.

The threatening being grabbed him with his robotic fist and hit him with a tremendous electric shock. Then it let go, but before Iron Man touched the ground, it hit him with a massive flying kick.

This time he did not destroy any facade, because he was captured and trapped by a sort of static field that immobilized him. He was electrocuted again.

When the pain stopped and he could reopen his eyes he discovered that the setting had changed. He was chained in an environment with a futuristic aesthetic. His hands and feet were immobilized within large metal spheres. Tony had more than one suspect.

"Parallel-X, filthy scum, show up!" exclaimed. "You don't seem to me in the most suitable position to insult," said a cold, bodyless voice. "I don't necessarily need to assume a human form, I am all you see and hear in this place.""Can you know who the hell you are and what you want?"
"I prefer to feed the mystery for some time, no offence" Parallel-X replied chuckling. "What I want right now ...or rather, what I need is to torture you for about ten minutes".

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH !!" for the third time Tony felt electricity tearing his limbs apart.

He woke up in an armchair in his office. Finally in the real world. Next to him was Pepper intent on waving a fan to give him air. She seemed rather apprehensive. When she saw Tony open his eyes and start talking, her face relaxed. Incredibly, however, Tony started swearing again about the topic they had interrupted, as if nothing had happened. Tony stark was a proud guy.
