ARCHER: SECRET AGENTS - CHAPTER TWO

II

"Failed Experiment"

It was a day like any other in the ISIS offices. The atmosphere among the employees was carefree and disorder reigned supreme, much to the regret of Miss Archer who was arguing as usual with his son Sterling. Cheryl and Pam, the human resources director, chatted about their latest adventures in bed, neglecting the work to do as usual; in the next room Cyril Figgis, the comptroller, was the only one who tried to get busy despite the uproar.

In yet another room Lana Kane lay idling on the sofa swinging her bare feet. To tell the truth, her inactivity could be justified:  she was waiting for the agency's chief researcher to deliver a new gun on which he had been working for weeks.

Lana Kane was the top female agent at ISIS. She had dark brown hair, green eyes and also abnormally large hands for a woman, which were a frequent target for ridicule.
A tall, beautiful black woman, she was a competent and deadly agent but was constantly frustrated that she was treated as the number two ISIS field agent because Archer's mother runs the agency. Like Archer, Lana was an expert in Krav Maga, in which all ISIS agents undergo training, and was usually seen carrying two Tec-9 submachine guns in shoulder holsters. She was the daughter of a Afroamerican lawyer and a portuguese stage actress and she had a younger sister, Emily.
"What the fuck is doing that idiot?" she exclaimed getting up from the couch. She decided to go check on in person downstairs. The laboratory was messed up but there was no sign of Dr Krieger. She went further, near to a sort of machine. "One step forward!" a voice yelled. Lana, exhausted, did it. Suddenly two cherry pickers grabbed her. "What the hell Krieger...let me out!" she screamed. "Sorry Lana, i need to test my new machine for a little while" the doctor replied. "You had to make a weapon, not this shit" Lana said. He did not even hear her. "Now you gonna feel a little shock and then we're done" Krieger said excitedly. "I'm getting mad, Krieger, let me out or... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!".

It wasn't a little shock. The doctor forgot to turn down the intensity of electricity. He pressed a button to switch the device off, but nothing happened. "Oh my god! Why is it not working?" he wondered worriedly. Meanwhile Lana kept screaming.

The man understood the only solution was to cut the power of the laboratory.

Upstairs Malory and Archer were still arguing. The trivial reason this time was the best gin for a Gin Tonic. "Beefeater is is undoubtedly the finest!" Sterling yelled. "You are such a jerk!" her mother replied. A blackout interrupted the fighting. "Great, that's all we need!" Miss Archer exclaimed. "I'm sure it's Krieger's fault". Obviously she was right. Sometimes she didn't believe why she had not yet fired him. The reason was his genius. Despite all the trobles he got up, he was definitely brilliant.

In the mean time Krieger was coming back to the tab to ensure Lana was okay.  She was. And when she saw him, she threw a powerful punch  in the face.
